On 10-4-2018 at approximately 1410 hours two CID Investigators observed a subject they knew to have a felony warrant operating a motor vehicle. The CID Investigators asked for assistance from a marked TGCSO unit and were able to stop the vehicle in an area adjacent to HEB.  The subject exited the vehicle and all was well until CID Investigators attempted to arrest him. An altercation ensued in which both CID Investigators received injuries when the subject attempted to take one CID Investigators firearm. An ambulance was called and the subject was transported to Shannon Hospital for treatment.

The two Tom Green County CID Investigators are being treated for injuries received during this arrest. The CID Investigators suffered scrapes, bruises and contusions along with blood exposure, but are expected to be OK.

At this point this incident is still under investigation and charges are pending.

Sheriff Jones said this is the perfect example of a seemingly routine call which escalated to a struggle for officers' lives.
