Patrol Division Mission Statement:
"The Patrol Division's mission is public safety. We are committed to working with our community to develop and maintain a safe atmosphere, in which we can live, work, play, and raise our families.”
The Patrol Division is the backbone of the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies patrol the unincorporated portions of Tom Green County. Patrol Deputies respond to citizen’s calls for assistance, conduct traffic enforcement, investigate traffic crashes and investigate reports of crime or suspected criminal activity. Patrol Deputies are the first responders to any crisis that occurs within the boundaries of Tom Green County, which encompasses over 1500 square miles and over 1033 miles of lane roadways.
The division is made up of 20 Patrol Deputies, 4 Sergeants and one Lieutenant. The division provides 24 hours per day coverage, 365 days a year, to the citizens of Tom Green County.
COMMERCIAL VEHICLE ENFORCEMENT
The patrol division also has two deputies assigned to Commercial Vehicle Enforcement. These deputies specialize in the enforcement of all commercial vehicle traffic, including size, weight and registration violations. This unit is dedicated to keeping the commercial vehicle operators educated and informed about the operation of all commercial vehicles operated within Tom Green County.
SPECIAL RESPONSE TEAM
The Tom Green Sheriff’s Office also retains a Special Response Team made up of individuals from several divisions. This team is equipped to handle high-risk arrest, high-risk search warrants, barricaded suspects and many other unusual circumstances that are not handled, on a routine basis, by other divisions of the Sheriff’s Office. The Team also responds to request from other law enforcement agencies in the Concho Valley area.
