DRUG SEIZURE AND ARREST

On Sunday, November 3, 2019, Tom Green County Sheriff's Deputy William Kirkland conducted a routine traffic stop for a traffic violation near the 7900 block US 87 North. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Michael A. Meza.

During the roadside interview several indicators of possible criminal activity were observed.  A San Angelo Police Department K9 was requested and responded to the scene. An open air search around the vehicle was conducted and the K9 alerted to the presence of an illegal substance.

During a probable cause search of the vehicle, a large quantity of illegal drugs were discovered along with five firearms, associated ammunition and magazines.   During the search of the vehicle the following illegal substances were found, 529 grams of methamphetamine, 51 grams of heroin (Black Tar), 52 grams of heroin, 22 grams of cocaine, and 19 grams of marijuana. Investigators also located $690.00 in U.S. currency.

Michael Meza was arrested for 3 counts of Manufacturing and Delivery offenses, one count of Possession of Marijuana < 2oz and five counts of felon in possession of a firearm. Michael Meza was booked into the Tom Green County Jail. TGSO is appreciative of the assistance from the San Angelo Police Department in the use of their K-9 for this significate seizure in taking illegal drugs off the streets of Tom Green County.
