The two Tom Green County residents who died Friday, 12/22/2023, have been identified as Michelle Gonzales, 52, and her husband Randy Gonzales, 58.   

Through the initial investigation and evidence at the scene, investigators have determined that at approximately 12:15 PM, Randy Gonzales arrived at a residence in the 11000 block of Texas Oak Road in Carlsbad and confronted his wife Michelle and a third person over a personal matter.  The confrontation quickly escalated, and Randy Gonzales produced a firearm and began firing at the third person who escaped the home unharmed by fleeing on foot.   Mr. Gonzales then shot his wife before turning the weapon on himself.

Autopsies on both shooting victims are scheduled to be conducted in Lubbock on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.  This murder/suicide investigation remains active.   Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office, Criminal Investigation Division at 325-655-8111.
